Traveling with your pet can be a challenge, particularly when you are trying to find a place to stay.  If you are traveling to the Chester County area, there a

re some great local hotels in Downingtown, Exton and the surrounding areas.

Also, if you’re local to the area and get caught in a situation where you need to leave your house, these places may be a good bet for you and your pet:

Hampton Inn Exton– Right off the Downingtown exit of the PA Turnpike, it’s convenient to local restaurants, activities and more.  As of this writing, they are also one of the few that does not charge a pet fee and are the cheapest overall cost.

Extended Stay America Exton–  They are also conveniently located off the Turnpike on Rt. 100 (Pottstown Pike).  They are also the cheapest cost ($94/room) but charge a $25 fee per room per night for pets, which brings their cost higher than Hampton.  Aside from free wifi and a laundry room, they have a Starbucks right next door to the hotel.

Residence Inn Great Valley/Exton-  The pet fee is more expensive ($100), but they allow multiple dogs and the fee is per stay, not per night.  So if you have multiple pets and are staying longer, they may be a good bet.  The rooms are a little bigger too, so you and the pets will be comfortable.

Comfort Suites Exton-  With a $75/night pet fee, they are the most expensive overall if you’re staying for more than one night.  In addition, they only allow one pet so if you have more than one, you’re out of luck.  Otherwise, the rooms are very nice; we have stayed there before during a multi-day power outage at the house and the staff was very friendly and accomodating.

Waynebrook Inn, Honey Brook-  If you’re looking for something more rural, check out the Waynebrook Inn, located on Rt. 322 and 10 in Honey Brook.  They allow pets and have a courtyard where you can walk Fido.  They also have the Horseshoe Pub located in the basement and an excellent restaurant, Bistro On 10, in the building.
